"Chotu Ek Chai Dena"

Recently Kailash Satyarthi got the Nobel Prize for peace with Malala Yousafzai. It is a  proud moment for us because India has got award after 1998 when it was awarded to Amartya Sen for his contribution in economics. We have got this award  second time for the peace. ( First was awarded to Mother Teresa ).

We feel very much inspired by both. Malala Yousafzai is the youngest recipient (she is just 17 !) and she had the courage to advocate  women education  in her  native place where Taliban banned it . She even got shot . I heard her speaking and the way she says I want to be a politician but a good politician is inspiring .
Kailash  Satyarthi  has really  done a great work . He has given life to more than 80000 children . So it is a great moment for us .
Another aspect of this event is the opportunities we have got . We feel a little ashamed  that this award was about Right of a Child to Education .  We as a nation are not able to provide this.Just think as a  person living in a foreign country .(Who has not traveled to India and does know very little about India)  He is a curious about Nobel peace prize .He  reads about the announcement of the same. He reads about the work for which prize is given . He would surely get an impression that oh India is a country of child laborers.  .Our 11% children are labors. I think  it has to be absolutely zero. A child is supposed to study and play not work and dream big dreams.

So where does lie the opportunity?
It was present already but now it is in spotlight .
1,It is at red light signal  where  boy or girl tries to  sell you something or merely begging risking her life.

2,It is at  a tea shop outside your office or college . You can relate the title of  the post here.

3. It is at a construction site where a whole family is employed (Mother , father , Chotu and Choti ).
If you try to hear a word there is a sentence  " Choti eet Dena"(Choti pass the brick).
4. It is at our grocery shop.
5. It is in our local trains.
6 .It is outside our temples .
7. It is  ever appearing  news of a missing child mostly a girl.
8. It is with the child marrige
9. It is with the juvenile crime.
10 . It is inside our homes. Sister want to go to school like her brother.

So we should not miss the opportunity .

Remember Choti and   Chotu have a name.  We have to find out the name .It could be Abdul Kalam , Chanda Kochar or  Deepika Padukone.  :)

Happy Diwali :)

Choices

Life is full of choices . We have to make choices too often . Modern age is filled of choices . Take the example of career. Our seniors had lass diverse choices  . So taking a choice was not a big deal at that time.  We have plenty of career options. No one would have thought 20 years back that writing a blog may be a career. (  By the way I m not writing blog as a career :P)

Advantages of too many choices may be apparent but there are some  problems too. Remember your shopping day when you wanted to buy a shirt. Shopkeeper showed you a shirt , you liked it . He showed you  next shirt  you liked that also. You saw five shirts . You liked 3 shirts. You can afford only 1. Now you have to take one shirt.  what to do . Now it is not matter of selecting one , it is more matter of giving up two shirts. Shopkeeper want you to decide hurriedly because he knows you are going to buy 1 for sure. You don't know , you feel stuck . Then you somehow decide one. Take the one with u but I am sure on the way you thought about the other two shirts for sure .

One big advantage of this crisis is that , the people who can take quick decisions become leader. They follow one philosophy that "it is not choice but the action on the taken choice make it right or wrong ."
Well that is also true but believe me choices are not as simple as they look.

J. K . Rolling wrote  in Harry Potter and the Chamber  of secrets about choices ,

" It is our choices , Harry , that show what we truly are , far more than our abilities ."

I am trying to point out following choices which I find very typical  to take.

1. To be versus to have .
2. To  do versus  not to do.
3. To do nothing versus to do something bad.
4. Being receiver versus giver .
5.To simplify versus to complicate.
6. To be part of problem versus solution .
So  lets have courage to make a choice out of choices .
